Piecemakers
Piecemakers, Faith United Lutheran's quilting ministry meets every Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall. They members make quilts for the church auction and for the synod assembly auction each year. On the last Tuesday in September a quilting marathon is held. Quilts made at the marathon are donated to St. Louis County Public Health nurses for new baby visits, to children at the Family Resource Center, nurse at the Cherry School for children who become sick at school, Community Connect for homeless persons, and the infusion centers in Hibbing, Virginia, and Duluth for cancer patients. Each child baptized at Faith United receives a quilt. Some quilts are kept on hand for emergencies or special needs in the community. In 2018 more than 200 quilts were made. Walker bags and lap quilts are made for nursing home patients when visits are made.
